Paxus Calta is the Lead Nuclear Campaigner for the 56 country Friends of
the Earth International network and is on the Board of Directors of the
Nuclear Information and Research Service in Washington DC.
For the last 5 years he has organized the international campaign to stop
the construction of the US funded Temelin Nuclear Power plant in the
Czech Republic. He is the founder of the FAIRE anti-nuclear university
in Budapest and was the Chair of the International Steering Committee
for the Chernobyl 10th anniversary campaign.
He has smuggled Tibetan monks across the Himalayas, danced on Soviet
Tanks (before Yeltsin made it popular) and hitchhiked across the Pacific
on sailboats. He has been in jail in over a dozen countries on three
continents for acts of political resistance and non-violent civil
disobedience.
